About Yanmar Engines

The history of Yanmar spans back over 100 years and although the organisation manufactures a wide range of industry-based products, they are perhaps best known for their diesel engines. Yanmar was born in 1912 when it was founded by Hatsudoki Kosakusho, who began by producing gas engines. 1925 saw the release of the first oil engine for fishing boats, thereon, Yanmar started to develop small-sized engines which were mainly used in the marine industry.

In the following years, the organisation branched out into the manufacture and supply of agricultural equipment such as tractors, combine harvesters, planting machines etc. This part of the organisation became known as Yanmar Agricultural Co.
